Good article here from divorcemag. We commonly put life insurance provisions in divorce agreements and decrees in order to protect the spouse that is receiving alimony and/or child support in the event of the death of the paying ex spouse. Be sure to talk with your attorney about putting such a provision in your divorce agreement if you think its called for.
